As you view the wall with your infrared camera in the blue/red palette you see the following image. Cool wall cavity areas (darker color) and warmer framing (lighter color).

Again, first ask: “Where is the heat source? Outside surface or inside surface?” And then identify the path of least resistance. Practice, practice, practice!
